If you're going to spend the money to dip your car right, Dip Armor™ is the upgrade I'd put on my own ride. Standard dip is great, but it's a soft rubber coating — Dip Armor™ adds a hard, durable layer on top that makes the whole finish tougher and easier to live with day to day.
What it is
Dip Armor™ is an ultra-durable, peelable top coat sprayed over your finished Plasti Dip job. Think of it as a clear shield that locks in your color and adds a layer of real-world protection without changing what makes dip great — it's still 100% reversible.
It cures to a hard, slick, paint-like satin feel. Run your hand across a panel and it feels like a painted car, not soft rubber. That hard surface is what gives it the toughness, and it's why I recommend it for anyone who actually drives their car instead of garaging it.
Benefits
- Scratch and mar resistant — handles the little brushes from bags, belt buckles, dog nails and car washes far better than bare dip.
- Gasoline and chemical resistant — a spill at the pump or a splash of bug remover won't soften or stain the coating.
- Stain resistant — bird droppings, tree sap and road grime wipe off instead of soaking in.
- Hard, slick, paint-like satin feel — looks and feels like a factory finish, not a wrap or rubber spray.
- Easy to clean — the slick surface releases dirt easily, so hand-washing is quicker.
- Stunning on pearls and metallics — it deepens the way light plays across Pearl TopCoat and metallic colors, making the flake really come alive.
- Can be ceramic coated — want even more gloss and protection? Dip Armor™ accepts a ceramic coating on top.
- Still fully peelable — the whole system, dip and armor together, peels off clean with no residue and no damage to your factory paint.
Charleston is hard on cars. Salt air off the harbor, summer humidity, sap from the live oaks and a stray drip at the gas station all add up. Dip Armor's™ chemical and stain resistance is exactly the kind of armor a Lowcountry daily driver wants.
Pricing / how to get it
Dip Armor™ is a premium add-on, priced by quote because the cost depends on your vehicle size and how much of it we're coating. It's not a separate appointment — I add it on top of your dip job, so you get one clean process and one finished result.
The honest way to think about it: it's a small upgrade relative to the full dip, and it's the kind of thing most folks are happy they added once they've lived with the car a while. Tell me your vehicle when you build your free quote and I'll give you a real number for adding Dip Armor™.
How it works
- We dip first. Your vehicle gets prepped, masked and coated in your chosen color and finish.
- Armor goes on top. Once the color coats are down, I lay on the Dip Armor™ top coat in even passes.
- It cures hard. The coating sets up into that slick, durable, paint-like surface.
- You drive it. Then care for it like any dip — hand-wash, skip the automatic brushes, and don't blast the edges with a pressure washer.
Because it's a top coat and not a glue, it doesn't change the peelability. Whenever you want a new look, the dip and armor come off together, cleanly.
Is it right for you?
If your car lives outside, sees real miles, or you just want the most durable finish I offer, add Dip Armor™. Curious how long it'll all last? See how long Plasti Dip lasts, brush up on caring for a Plasti-dipped car, and if you're chasing maximum shine instead of maximum toughness, compare it to the Ultra High Gloss top coat.
